As per its code of conduct CIReN’s operations are transparent and open to the public. CIReN is independent and entirely autonomous, owned and managed by its journalists. It is financed from contributions or donations from natural and legal persons, through tenders issued by recognised international institutions, non-governmental organisations and philanthropic foundations and through story-driven collaborations by participating in investigative consortiums. To date it has secured funding from the CIVITATES Foundation, the European Media and Information Fund, the Gulbenkian Foundation, The Journalism Fund for Europe and OCCRP. CIReN does not publish advertisements or advertorials.
